Antisemitism
I've got issues with antisemitism!
I can recognize it's existence; however, the ignorance of Christians (read: allegedly born again followers of Jesus Christ) who are antisemitic is just plain mind-boggling.
1. Roman soldiers killed Jesus, not Jews. Of course the Pharisees, Sadducees, the High Priest, etc. were the ones who accused and betrayed Him, but
2. Jesus came to Earth to be sacrificed for the sins of humanity. Have you read the Old Testament? He had to come. He had to be sacrificed. It was God's will that a way be made for humans to have a relationship with the True and Living God.
Of course there are many other reasons why a person may be antisemitic; however, I have heard the "Jews killed Jesus" argument just a little too much.
I am thankful for Jesus Christ dying on the cross of Calvary for my sins.

I hope you missed me!
The last time I gave a real update, orange juice was involved. Well...as a result of breaking my baby toe, I am still wearing a special shoe. On Sunday, I tried to wear a normal shoe, and my toe was mad! I will try again real soon.
Grad school is still intense. In fact, I dropped one of my classes. That will not put me behind at all, but it will allow me to sleep more. Speaking of sleep, I slept for 16 hours last night! I knew I was tired, but I really did not think I would be able to sleep that long. I missed my Human Diversity class, and I heard it was good. I do not want you to think I get that much sleep normally. On Sunday night, I got two hours. On Monday night, I got seven hours. On Tuesday night, I got less than two hours, AND they weren't together! If you average the sleep I have gotten over the past four days, it comes to 6.75 hours, huh!
I no longer have a cellphone. My dad isn't happy about that. It is an adjustment, but I'm sure it won't even be a serious thought in a couple of months, just like not having Facebook.
So much is going on, but it is time to go home, so deuces! Call my home phone!

“We’re living in a day and time where being politically correct is popular. We’re living in a day and time where everybody is saying the name God, but nobody wants to say the name Jesus. We don’t want to offend the Muslim. We don’t want to offend the Jews. We don’t want to offend the Arabs. And so therefore we crucify him afresh. But I want you to know that there will come a time when every Muslim, when every Buddhist, when every Jew will have to get down on their knees and confess that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow. So I want every blood-washed believer to not wait until then.”

Orange Juice
I have been doning a fancy shoe the past five days because I either broke or seriously bruised my baby toe on my left foot. First, it is important to know Esther Wong was responsible. I wanted some orange juice, and I was excitedly walking to her while not wearing any type of visual aid (glasses or contacts). I ran into my bed. My baby toe immediately let me know he was not happy. I got the organge juice, prayed for my foot, and tried to act like everything would be alright. Some people have pretty big baby toes, but mine is a little grape. The poor little grape changed colors and became swollen.

Grad School life
I visited the Greek Festival twice this weekend! Tomorrow is the last day. I would not be surprised if I go again...I think I am kind of ashamed of myself. I did get to hang out with my Susan Berger
Labor day is traditionally a day off, but not for me. I have not done any real work since Friday. I am currently putting in all the assignments, special events, etc. in Outlook. I have not put in much and it is already pretty full. I don't understand how people have full-time jobs while in grad school?! Maybe they don't have a life. I refuse to not be balanced. The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus. From there, I attend events at church and hang out with buddies who are also born-again followers of Jesus Christ. I am in grad school because of Jesus. God cares very deeply for social justice, so I do also.
I am so excited that I got the position at the Center for Latino Family Research. I will be doing qualitative research until December. Prayerfully, there will be a place for me next semester. Yay foot in the door!
I will be applying to get my MPH while getting my MSW. There are multiple wonderful things about this. 1. When I decided to not pursue my MD, I did not magically lose my interest in medicine. This ties is all together! 2. I have decided I want to run community health centers that target minority populations. 3. This is the first year the Brown School is offering the MPH. 4. For people who do this specific dual degree (MSW/MPH), they start off with only MSW classes, so I will not be behind. Only one bad thing, I have to take a graduate exam. I have options, GRE, LSAT, GMAT. I am not sure which one I will take, but I know how I will be spending my winter break.
Speaking of Winter Break! I will be attending Urbana 09. I already paid and registered for the Domestic Poverty track. Check out this global missions conference, here.
Took a pretty hefty afternoon nap and just finished some coffee. We have a long night ahead of us. I'm okay with that because I am unequivocally a night person.

Three of four Maxwell sisters are now all natural as far as hair is concerned. Apparently, my dad does not like it so much. What is it about Black men and their strong opinion that Black women should have long straight hair?! I'm glad the only authority I answer to is God/Jesus/Holy Spirit
